News Report

In your groups you are to present a short news story which reports on the Soweto Uprising.
Conduct research in preparation for this via the following tabs on this blog:
  • Useful Links
  • The Soweto Uprising
  • Video
You are to allocate roles within your group and script a report. Once this is completed, film your news report with the flip cameras provided. Once you have then edited these, I will post your videos to this page.

Next lesson will watch these as a class and provide peer assessment.

Discussion Questions.

There are two parts to your task.
  • Firstly, in your groups read through the discussion topics below and choose one that appeals to your group. Discuss your ideas and post your group's responses as a comment.
  • Secondly, once all groups have submitted their discussion findings, collaborate as a group and respond to at least one other group's post. Do you agree or disagree with their opinions? Build on each others contributions and responses.
  1. What kind of problems are raised for children whose mother lives 300 kilometers away from them?
  2. What were Naledi and Tiro afraid of?
  3. What risks was the boy taking in helping them?
  4. What was Naledi contemplating when she thinks 'Why Not?' at the end of this chapter?
  5. What happened to Naledi and Tiro's father.
  6. What do the children think of Grace?
